Getting To Hakuba

Narita:

There are a couple of options from Narita Airport by way of the Narita Express to Tokyo Station or Skyliner to Ueno Station. From either Tokyo Station or Ueno Station you can catch the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Nagano Station.

Skyliner:

Taking the Skyliner from Narita Airport to Keisei-Ueno Station (JPY 2,500 44mins), is usually the fastest option, however you will need to change stations from the Keisei-Ueno Station to Ueno Station (approximately 10 mins walk). From Ueno Station you need to catch the Shinkansen to Nagano Station (JPY8,200 1hr 20mins) and finally a bus from Nagano to Hakuba (JPY2,000 1 hr). When arriving at Nagano Station, you need to take the East Exit, go downstairs and find bus stop number 26. This is where the bus will depart for Hakuba. Our staff will be waiting for you at the Happo Bus Terminal to bring you back to the lodge and get you settled in. See below for Narita Express, Shinkansen and Alpico bus timetables.

Narita Express:

Take the Narita Express to Tokyo Station (JPY 3,000 1hr) then Shinkansen to Nagano (JPY8,400 1hr 40mins) and finally a bus from Nagano to Hakuba (JPY2,000 1 hr). When arriving at Nagano Station, you need to take the East Exit, go downstairs and find bus stop number 26. This is where the bus will depart for Hakuba. When returning to Tokyo it is the same but in reverse. Our staff will be waiting for you at the Happo Bus Terminal to bring you back to the lodge and get you settled in. See below for Narita Express, Shinkansen and Alpico bus timetables.

There are buses from Narita Airport direct to Hakuba which will take between 4-5 hours (reservation necessary). Follow the link for departure times for the Nagano Snow Shuttle.

Haneda:

The journey from Haneda is not as straight forward as from Narita. You will need to catch the Monorail to Hamamatsucho station and catch a train from here to Tokyo Station. From Tokyo Station the journey is the same as from Narita, taking the Shinkansen (bullet train 1hr 40mins) to Nagano and then catch the bus from Nagano to Hakuba (1hr). When arriving at Nagano Station, you need to take the East Exit, go downstairs and find bus stop number 26. This is where the bus will depart for Hakuba. When returning to Tokyo it is the same but in reverse. Our staff will be waiting for you at the Happy Bus Terminal to bring you back to the lodge and get you settled in. See below for Narita Express, Shinkansen and Alpico bus timetables.

If you would prefer not to have the hassle of changing trains at Hamamatsucho Station then you can take the Airport Limousine direct from Haneda to Tokyo Station. The journey will take about 45 mins.

There are buses from Haneda Airport direct to Hakuba which will take between 4-5 hours. Follow the link for departure times for the Nagano Snow Shuttle. For an extra fee of JPY1,000 they will drop you to the front door of Sheltered Inn.

Shinjuku:

If you are overnighting in Tokyo then the train from Shinjuku is a great option. It departs at 0800 daily and arrives in Hakuba at 1142. Follow the link for the Shinjuku train timetable.

Private vehicle:

If you would prefer to take a private vehicle to Hakuba then you can make a reservation with Chuo Taxi. They will drop you off directly at the lodge. Prices vary depending on the size of your group. Bookings should be made in advance to use this service.
